        <title>My windows on blogs</title>
        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=44</link>
<description>Since my window displays at Selfridges have been up they have attracted a fair amount of attention and I have received some lovely feedback from the public. As well as being blogged about on a number of motorbike enthusiast websites, the windows have been featured on a number of my favourite design blogs including Creative Review, Notcot and Wallpaper magazine. My displays will be in the windows until 1st September.

        <title>Selfridges Installation</title>
        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=43</link>
<description>Over the last few weeks I have been working on a series of window displays for Selfridges who commissioned me after I pitched an idea to them. I spent last night installing 4 of the 5 windows that I have art directed and crafted. I will be revealing more of this project over the next couple of weeks, but if you are around Oxford Street any time over the next 6 weeks then you will find my displays allocated in Selfridges 'Wonder Windows'. I will also be doing a live installation all day tomorrow (30th June) in the 5th and largest window. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those lovely people who have helped me with the displays.

        <title>Diet Coke Props</title>
        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=42</link>
<description>A few months ago I made some props for Diet Coke. I'm sure many of you in the UK have seen the campaign where puppets on strings in a office get up and dance towards a Diet Coke vending machine. Well to tie in with the campaign a 'Behind the scenes' video has been made where the puppets can be seen interacting with some hollywood dressing room style props that I have made. Diet Coke colours of course.

        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=41</link>
<description>Following the EP which I designed the artwork for last year, Police Dog Hogan have compiled a new album. My favourite track is called &quot;Shitty white wine&quot;. This time around, I have taken the police dog idea to new realms by making a nodding dog complete with suitably comic packaging in the hope of matching the humour in the bands music. More on this project when we get the albums back from the press.

        <title>Olivier Theyskens Window Installation</title>
        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=40</link>
<description>Fashion designer, Olivier Theysken has a new photography book called &quot; The Other Side Of The Picture&quot; which has recently been published. To promote the book, Liberty asked me to create a window installation using the photos from the book. Re-creating a pose from one of the photos, I sculpted a life-sized geometric figure out of the pictures. Working with Owen Silverwood, we then shot the figure under very dramatic spot-lighting to mirror the atmosphere of books photos.

        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=39</link>
<description>Lots of exciting things have been happening over the last few weeks and all will be revealed in due course. Last week I had the pleasure of working with Lacey at her studio in East London. Lacey has developed an extensive portfolio of still life and fashion photography over the last few years, working with Clients ranging from Sony and Nike to Vanity Fair and British Vogue. The image here gives you a sneak peak at the project we have recently been working on together entitled 'Killing Time'. I have been pushing the level of realism in my card props for this one!

        <title>Artists Open Houses</title>
        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=38</link>
<description>Today was the first day of the 'Artists Open Houses' in Brighton. It is so wonderful to see so much creativity and welcoming people around in my home town. One project that really stood out for me today was the 'Bread Birdhouses', an installation by Nathan Burr. I love how ridiculously surreal and clever this idea is, and whilst I did not actually witness any birds eating it, I can certainly picture the image! The Artists Open Houses are here for the next 3 weekends in Brighton and I urge you to have a mooch around and chat to the local artists. With 243 venues this year there is a lot to see by the sea!

<description>Today I received copies of my book 'Guide for the Unlucky' from the distributor in the states. The publication is now available in shops in America, but the release in the UK and Europe will most likely be later in April or May. Those of you yet to see the promo video of my book can view it in the 'shop' section of my website. Thanks again to everyone who has supported me in getting this book published. <description>Over the last couple of days I have had the pleasure of working with Owen Silverwood, a very talented still-life photographer. We worked together on the Liberty shoot at Blink after assembling my organic and typographic set. Owen has an acute eye for detail as I discovered after he noticed a few stray gluey patches on my model work! I hope to continue working with Owen on other creative ventures in the future. This project will be added to my portfolio shortly along with another project or two that I have recently completed.

<description>Its been a while since I have made some 3D typography. I'm currently working on another project for Liberty and getting my teeth into creating some much more organic shapes than I'm used to making. Plus I get to integrate some hand crafted typography which pleases me very much! I don't want to give too much away at this stage, but if I say the words 'flower power', it will give you an idea of where this is going. More on this project within the next few weeks...

        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=33</link>
<description>I love ideas that are as clever as they are fun. My friend Ashley has created a limited edition set of 'commuters pillows'. They are handmade 3-colour screen printed pillow cases, lovingly stuffed and stitched resulting in a marvellous product. She even made me one where the destination is 'Brighton'. I absolutely love it. Both Ashley and I are regular commuters to London and so we can appreciate the need for one of these from time to time. Ashley may still have some left, so If you would like to buy one off her, she would love you to email her as this address: ashlee.allen@hotmail.co.uk

        <title>Brighton Model World!</title>
        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=32</link>
<description>Today was a monumental day for model enthusiasts. My good friend and supremely talented director David Wilson, and myself attended Model World 2010 at the Brighton Centre. Upon our arrival we realised that we bridged the age gap, as the majority of people there were either younger than 14 or older than 50. We watched a model re-inactment of a WW2 battle, the titanic hitting an iceberg, a lego space station and to top it all off, we had a ride on a miniature railway! Childhood fantasy comes to mind. Of course our trip to Model World was all in the name of research.

        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=30</link>
<description>Happy New Year everyone! Many new things have been changing for me over the last few weeks. Firstly, I am pleased to write that I am now represented by Blink Art, which along with Blinkink, Blinkproductions and Colonel Blimp form a well respected and forward thinking production company in London. Some work is already in the pipe-line, including some fantastic collaboration opportunities. I have also moved into a much bigger house in Brighton which means I get to have a whole room to use as a study (although I like to call it a studio!) Here's hoping this fresh new start brings some great things in 2010. Best of luck to all of you!

        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=29</link>
<description>Some of you may have noticed that I now have a new icon in my navigation that is entitled 'shop'. As you can now pre-order my book, 'Guide for the Unlucky' on amazon.com (not amazon.co.uk yet) I thought it was time to launch this section on my website. It is my intention to sell other products through my website in the future, but for now it is page devoted to my new book. To coincide with this launch, I have also made a special promo video for the book which you can view in both my shop and portfolio. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Blink who supported me in creating the video. Special thanks to Simone who helped me with the painstaking process of stop-frame animation and Daniel Elms for creating the music for the video.

<description>Well I thought I'd update a couple more projects to my portfolio today. My Police Dog Hogan albums came back from the press a few days ago. Just in time before the band had a gig! The other big project I have revealed is my pop-up book, 'Guide for the Unlucky'. I had a prototype up on my website several months ago, but over the past year or so, this book has been improved and refined for publication. I am now pleased to announce that this book will be on sale in all major book stores early next year. It is already listed on Amazon.com! Very exciting indeed.

It was very satisfying to see all of our hard work come together. The rest of the displays will be going up across the country over the next few days. You can now view images of this project in my portfolio section.

        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=26</link>
<description>Having liked my furby 'compartmentalism' project, the people at creative agency 'The Assembly' have commissioned me to create a video for them on the same theme. In order to re-inforce their company name, they set me the challenge of assembling an old typewriter from scratch and documenting my efforts. My hands were black from oil after handing all of the individual components! I am now going to begin editing it all and speeding it up (like time-lapse) so that viewers don't have to sit through hours of footage!

        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=25</link>
<description>Whilst being busy with paper-mache, I have found time to work on a nice project designing an album sleeve for band 'Police Dog Hogan'. The band asked me to create something 'iconic'. That is quite possibly the scariest thing to ever ask a designer in my opinion! Well...the band are giving me the thumbs up with what I am producing for them, which is good enough for me! In a direct reference to their band name, I have created a hand made-police badge to form the basis for the imagery. I'm still playing around with the design and having fun exploring possible promotional pieces for the band too.

<description>With the many days so far spent covering numerous musical instruments in manuscript paper, It felt right to have a little bit of fun with them today and dress as a one man band... as you do! Just a few weeks now until they will all be up in the windows of Hermes shops across the country. So exciting. I can't wait!

        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=23</link>
<description>I have just started my next project for Hermes. I am going to be covering 40 musical instruments of various types and sizes in manuscript paper. I am also covering a handful of suitcases in old ordinance survey maps. Now you can understand why I have had to move into a studio space. This has got to be one of my messiest project in a long time. Brings back many memories of school. More on this project will be revealed in the coming weeks. For now this picture shows the handful of objects that I have covered so far...

<description>The time has come for me to move my work space out of my flat and into a proper studio...well at least until christmas anyway! As of this week, I am moving into York Place Studios in Brighton. It is situated very close to the Laines and houses a collection of creative individuals including a painter, graphic designer, Illustrator, jewellery maker and textile designer. As well as being divided into studios, it also has a shop which sells the most amazing hand-made leather goods by Wolfram Lohr. The shop also doubles as a mini gallery space, and as a new resident, I am able to have my Mobile Evolution Project on display in the window. Keep checking back for more news from York Place Studios over the next few weeks.

        <title>Disposable Technology</title>
        <link>http://www.kylebean.co.uk/news/article.php?id=10</link>
<description>Aside from Easter chocolate, my house is currently filled with one of my most favoured, (but admittedly abundant) mediums - Brown packaging cardboard! I'm currently working on a project about our consumer relationship with technology. Im looking at obsolescence and how technology evolves so fast that we expect things to break or get replaced by 'new and improved' products within a very short space of time. Most people know the feeling when you buy a new camera or phone, only to find out that a month later, a better model has been released! Oooh the frustration! Technological items are now said to be effectively 'disposable' because of this and living in our 'throw-away society' just adds to the issue. My solution... Cardboard Technology! This project is still in early stages, but expect to see the finished items/photos etc in my portfolio soon.</description>

It has proven to be a real challenge - my first animation shot in broad daylight! Pretty much any problem conceivable has happened to me in the last few weeks - cats attacking my props, the weather changing half way through a scene and random people managing to knock everything over. Still after re-shoots with any luck I should have this project on my website soon! I hope you like my newly designed site by the way.
